Drowning

I'm running,
I think I can do it on my own this time,
I jump,
the water envalopes me,
I can't swim,
I can't breath,
I reach for the surface,
I break it,
I scream, "Help"
I sink back down,
I can't break the surface,
I can't reach,
I see hands,
above me and below me,
I reach for the hands,
she pulls me up above the water.....
i'm crying,
why can't she reach for me
like she did then?
Can't she hear me yelling,
does she see me struggling,
and trying to break the surface
like I did then,
I'm drowning
and I only see hands below
they've almost got me
and there are no hands above me
like the hands I saw back then
or any hands at all.
There's no one to help me out,
so how am I going to get out
of this deep pool
when I have no idea
how to swim.
